Great to be joined by Mayor of London Sadiq Khan for our London Region #MakingIt event this morning. Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London said: “More than 100,000 Londoners work in manufacturing, contributing billions to our capital’s economy, in industries which create well-paid, secure and high skilled jobs. I am proud to support GMB’s excellent campaign.” Jude Brimble, GMB National Secretary said: “It's often said that we don’t make anything here anymore, but that's wrong. Our Making It campaign reveals the truth about manufacturing and celebrates the work GMB members proudly do every day. We're delighted to have the Mayor’s backing for our ambitious charter to support manufacturing jobs in London, with this diverse sector supporting more than a hundred thousand livelihoods and bringing billions into the capital.”
Great to be at City Hall with GMB London Region and Sadiq Khan this morning for another #MakingIt regional launch event this morning. Despite what people might say it’s such an important sector for the capital:
These letters are absolutely deplorable. GMB stands in complete solidarity with the Muslim population + our Muslim members. This is hate crime, pure and simple, and anything but British. It's rightly being investigated by the police, and we must see prosecutions on the back of it. We urge anyone who has received the letter to report it to the police quoting Incident Reference number 420, and for anyone who is concerned or frightened by the letter to contact Tell Mama UK an independent, non-government organisation which works on tackling anti-Muslim hatred
🗳 The results are in: thousands of members working in schools, academies and across local government have had their say on pay, and a whopping 94% voted TO ACCEPT the offer! Thanks so much to all of you who took the time to vote!
